PlayMais and the Environment
PlayMais is made from a 100% natural material and is 100% bio-degradable!
Processes used to make PlayMais are fueled by using a 'Renewable Energy Source'- bio-gas, which in turn is used to make electricity.
Growing Maize helps farmers to diversify - use their land for other things as well as food production.
Growing Maize helps the environment - 1 hectare of maize can supply electricity to 5 homes for 1 year without damaging the environment.
There is no waste in production - what comes out, goes back in. Consider the PlayMais Eco-Cycle and see for yourself:-
(Cultivate (non GM) Maize, - use part to produce PlayMais using bio-fuel, use remainder to produce bio-gas - the by-product (heat and energy is used on site and excess channeled to National Grid) - used-up base material (stored for 6 months to reduce down) spread on the land as fertilizer - to cultivate more Maize!)
PlayMais is coloured with natural food dyes - no harmful E numbers.
Bio-gas is the product of a process which is like using a landfill site and harnessing all the harmful Green House Gases to benefit the environment and mankind - and bacteria does most of the work!!!
Did you know:
Three cows produce enough waste to make electrical power for one average household.
PlayMais and Tortillas are just two of the many things made from maize.
There are mazes made from maize which are grown each year! (try 'googleing' maize maze)
You can get cutlery and disposable picnic-ware made from maize which are 100% biodegradable.
Most bin bags are not bio-degradable even if the contents are and take years to break down. We can supply real bio-degradable bin bags as well as PlayMais.
Many things which are presently made from plastic could be made from Maize. (That would make them biodegradable too.)
